Belly Fat Creep? How to Turn It Around, Make It Go The Right Way, and Be Healthier As You Go!

Belly fat, belly fat, belly fat; you see it everywhere!  What is the best way to do something about it?

 Several months ago I made a promise to myself that I was going to lose some of the belly fat that had attached itself to me over the past 10 to 15 years (belly fat creep.)   I did not consider myself obese or really overweight especially by today’s standards but deep down inside I knew I should not be on the border line of having too much belly fat.

Here are some things I have learned about belly fat.

Despite the fact I had been doing the right things to stay healthy, my belly fat was creeping the wrong way.  I ate a nutritious diet, exercised on a fairly regular basis, and had an active lifestyle; yet the belly fat was being stubborn and not going away!

I really did not even know what my BMI was but I did know that I that I had some fat and it was in the wrong places.  My clothes were either too snug or I was not able to wear them at all especially those that would not go around my waist.

My belly fat and love handles were indicators that I could be at risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and other diseases even though I seemed healthy.  The risk of serious health problems were increasing as I was approaching the 69 year mark.  It doesn’t matter what age you are, male or female, belly fat is not healthy. 

 The first thing I did was to increase my output of energy by staying on my exercise routine 5 to 6 days per week and I increased the amount of time I exercised.  At that time I was mainly jogging on my mini trampoline.

Then I bit the bullet and started cutting back on the amount of food I ate for my meals and snacks.  For years I have eaten about 5 times a day so I cut back a small amount at each meal and snack.  That cutting back action is when I started seeing some results as a few pounds dropped away along with some belly fat.

A big benefit of cutting back was that I now never have that feeling of eating too much and feeling stuffed.  You know the feeling when you want to unbutton your waist band or go change into your sweats just to be comfortable.

 It didn’t take too long before I realized I really needed to include some basic good stretches in my exercise routine as well as some weight-training.  After all I wanted to tone and reshape my belly as I got rid of that creeping belly fat.  I started doing about 10 minutes of stretches, about 10 to 15 minutes weight training, and then 20 to 30 minutes on the mini trampoline 6 days a week.

About 3 months into my workouts I checked into a program that was based on doing more with less and gradually started incorporating some basic moves into my stretches and weight training.  That was the toning point and inches starting shrinking.  Wow, I believe I found the magic formula to put me on a successful path to reaching my goal of saying “goodbye” forever to belly fat creep in the wrong direction!

I have now lost over 10 pounds and at least 7 ½ inches.  Unfortunately I did not measure myself before I started the trip of shrinking my belly fat and love handles so I have had to estimate the inch loss.  Actually I believe I am being very conservative when saying 7 ½ inches.  My clothing is sure more friendly to my body now and I can even wear clothes I had been gradually shoving to the back of the closet!

Hi Pat…"Doing More With Less" is definitely the way to go! It is amazing how much the loss of 5-10 lbs. then 10-20 lbs. will do for energy levels and overall sense of well-being…Great and simple work-out regimen…as you allude to, consistency is the key with any program…Thank you, Hughie 🙂
