Poor circulation can lead to major or minor health problems. Someone recently asked me what food would be helpful for circulation. I had to answer with a question. Why are you asking? What kind of symptoms do you have to cause you to be concerned about your circulation? The subject at hand was about almonds.
Yes, almonds are a healthy food that will benefit your circulation because they are rich in several nutrients your body needs to function well. However, one food or activity alone will not solve any health problem. It takes the synergy of a variety of foods, nutrients, and activity to have good circulation.
What do we mean when we refer to circulation?
The way I understand circulation is that it is how and where the blood flows throughout our body. This is called the circulatory system. If at any point blood flow is restricted to any degree to any part of the body, that body part will be affected. That, in turn, can affect other functions of the body.
When we eat, food is broken down in the digestive tract, and eventually, nutrients from that food are absorbed and assimilated into our bloodstream. The blood then flows through our veins and arteries delivering nutrients to each and every part of the body.
The blood also carries oxygen from the lungs to all parts of the body through the circulatory system.
The main pump that keeps the blood moving is, of course, the heart. The lymph system also helps in the distribution process. It transports nutrients to the trillions of cells in the body as well as transporting toxins out of the body.
The human body that God designed is quite an amazing machine.

Hi Pat, enjoyed your very informative list post! Three things I do for circulation are:
– with slightly bent knees, swing arms front to back 50 times (people in China do this every morning in the parks I am told)
– take omega 3s
– at the end of a shower, turn water on as hot as you can stand, then turn to as cold as you can stand, and alternate a few times
Best,
Laura
Hi Laura,
Thanks for sharing your great tips for circulation. I do T-Tapp 3 to 5 times a week which focuses on the slightly bent knees while tucking the butt during exercises so I can see how the bent knees and swinging of arms could be very beneficial. Of course I also take omega 3s in the form of Neo-Life Salmon Oil Plus. For years I have tried to remember to turn the water to cold as I complete my showers.. it is supposed to increase your metabolizm.
I’m so happy to have you as a reader of my blog.
Sharing the things I have learned… Pat
Â
Excellent article packed with 50 points to improve circulation, Pat! Personally, like you I use Advanced Omega daily, one Protandim to tune up my DNA and a quality vitamin supplement to keep my entire body running like a twenty-year old. Circulation is critical to optimal health. Good job on the list post, Pat…keep it up!
Carla, I believe your list post was one of the best posted. You did a great job on it. Glad you are staying healthy and running like a 20 year old;-)
Thanks for sharing these information. Complete with what food to eat and the things to do for healthier circulation. So many jobs these days require people to sit on their desks all day and don't get to move around a lot.
You are welcome, Lorii.
Yes, many people do sit at their desks much of the day and do not move around very much. It puts them at a much higher risk of developing many illnesses with one being a blood clot that can be life threatening.
Wow…there is a lot of great information! Thanks for sharing Pat!
Carl, it seems we do not learn alot of these things until we have to go through something. No one sits you down prior to open-heart surgery and tells you that the membrane surrounding your heart will no longer be surrounding your heart; nor do they tell you that 10% of all bypass grafts fail within the 1st 6 months or 50% fail within 10 years. Another thing I did not mention in the article and should have mentioned is that the veins they remove from your legs to do the bypass are not really strong enough to withstand the pressure involved in the heart arteries.. that is one of the reasons for the failures.. that is another reason they automatically put you on blood pressure meds after bypass surgery. The best thing to do is to avoid having the heart problem in the first place if at all possible. I’m sure you feel the same way about cancer treatments.. they did not tell you ahead of time about the damage it could do to your heart.
Wow, talk about ambushing poor circulation from all angles! Terrific article, Pat, for those who find they have any of the symptoms …
Sharon, I like your description ‘ambushing poor circulation from all angels’. Really it does come down to that.. it is a synergy effect of various things that will give health benefits.
My gosh – you truly are a wealth of knowledge!! Thank you so much for sharing your research and tips, Pat!!
Lisa, I love sharing the things I have learned during my 70 years here on earth. Hope to help someone have better health or preserve the good health they already have.
Wow, now this info is great and many of the things I never even knew about. Thank you for sharing.
Marilyn, so happy you are finding out more information.. staying informed is important.
Incredible wealth of info Pat! I know so many people who suffer because of poor circulation…will be sending them to this article! Thanks…this is sure to help many!
Denny, thanks for sharing my article.. hoping it helps someone you know.
Pat, this is a great list of 50. My list of 3 – brisk walks – I try daily; Most items of your foods & most from the seasoning lists. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Gary, keep working on your list.. great job so far. The fact that you use most of those seasonings is telling me that you do a lot of food preparation from scratch.. that is a good thing.
wow, these are great tips to remember. Thank you Pat.
You are welcome, Carele.
Awesome advice and timely as I am having trouble with my foot an ankle!
Anita, I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your foot and ankle. Is it a circulation problem? I seem to recall you had an issue not long ago? Be careful that you do not end up with a blood clot issue Salmon Oil, Garlic Allium, and Vit E would be helpful.
Great info… I've always wondered if I have poor circulation because certain things make me think so, like weird blotchiness on my skin and stuff… but I never want to go to the doctor, haha… so I love this article, so I can just be sure to do all the things that are GOOD for my ciruclation and then just not have to wonder and worry 🙂
Hi Robin, I’m glad you are able to utilize some of the info in the article. Weird blotchiness on the skin could be from poor circulation or could be from a lack of quality oils. In either of those cases, Tre-en-en and Omega-3 Salmon Oil could be very benefical supplements.
This is great and essential information here Pat – I agree that good circulation and being healthy is all about working with the synergy of many components. Thanks for keeping us educated!
Moira, synergy is the key.. things working together in the right balance.
Pat-Great post! I really enjoyed all the lists broken down into 10's!
Natalie, thank you for reading. Some of the topics could have had more than 10 but I limited each one to 10.. glad you enjoyed it.
Very thorough and informative post. Thank you for sharing!
Katrina, I appreciate your support and encouragement.
Thank you Pat. My husband suffers from poor circulation and very often has very cold feet. I will try out some of your suggestions.
Susan, I would particularly suggest your husband get started on salmon oil and Tre-en-en. I used to always have cold feet but after I started taking these supplements I noticed my feet were no longer always cold. That was when I was in my 40’s.. I’m now 70 and still in very good health.
Excellent post. some good signs to look out for.
Rob, thanks for stopping by my site and reading this article.. appreciate your support.
Great information Pat. I am predetermined to eventually have poor circulation. I have arthiritis in my back already.
Christy, now is the time to take action to improve you circulation especially if you are already having arthritis pain in your back. I would certainly suggest you get started on Tre-en-en and salmon oil and make them a staple in your daily routine.
Another great post Pat! Just reading your article motivated to move my arms and get up and drink more water!
Hi Barbara, I happy to hear you were motivated to take some action by reading my article… moving around frequently is important as well as drinking water.
Great tips, Pat! I especially appreciate the advice to move around more! So much of my work involves sitting at a computer…I need to make a concerted effort to get up and move around!
Yes, Sherie, need to move ever so often.. you will be healthier.
Great article, Pat, and excellent information to help improve circulation. Thank you!
