It’s Date Night!

February 14, 2012

My husband, Larry, wrote today’s article.  Yes, we have been married 50 plus years so why this …?

Everyone probably has as idea what a date night might be, but maybe this idea might be a little different twist on a date.  Relationships are one of the most important things we have in our lives.

Certainly the relationship we have with our Creator is at the top of the list with that covering everything else.  According to His plan, wisdom, and common sense the next most important relationship would be that between a husband and wife, then with family, then friends, and all other things following in logical order.

Husband, ask your wife; or wife, ask your husband; “Let’s plan a date night or actually let’s plan a date night at home.”

It’s Friday night, its ‘Date Night!’  It is time to clean up, shower, and put some of your nicest duds on.  All dressed up with no place to go?  Not at all, you are going on a date.  The house is already in order.  A delicious simple meal is almost ready.  The fire is ready to light and the candles are already adding a romantic glow to the room.  Candle light and the light from a fireplace can transform almost any home into a better place.  The TV is off, maybe a movie later if it feels right.  The orchestra (soft music) is playing; it is time for fine dining and conversation.  A quick clean up and the date continues.

Working together preparing a Simple Dinner!

What’s your choice; forties, fifties, sixties, seventies, eighties, nineties?     Put some music on, push back the coffee table, and dance.  You have your favorite band playing, your tummy is happy; you’re in the best place in town dancing with the one you love more than anyone else in the world.  If you are as lucky as we are, you might even be dancing to one of your kid’s albums.

Not suggesting this should replace other date nights out, but a date night in, can do wonders for your relationship and when this one is good, all others will be better.  Not going out this week, not going anywhere this weekend; then why not plan a date night in?

February 14th is Valentine’s Day, a good time to think about relationships.  Of course, so is every day.

“Thank you, honey, for a great article!”

It is wonderful to be married to a man filled with romance.  The very first gift I received from Larry after we started dated was a beautiful, yellow, heart-shaped box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day.  Packed away with other special mementos and keepsakes is that special yellow heart box.

To state the obvious, relationships and how good they are have a lot to do with one’s health.  I love sharing things we have learned and experienced here on Best Real Health.

Go plan yourself a Special Date Night!

Hi Denny, yes, my husband is a great writer. I am hoping to share some of his writings as time marches along. We have not always had date nights but are rekindling that part of our marriage. Sounds like your parents were good role models. Thanks for reading and commenting.
